Our Story

Bob Armstrong comes from a family of builders and has been in Hawaii since 1970. Armstrong Builders is recognized as a leader in residential and commercial construction. Many of our projects have been award winners. However, our most sought after praise comes from our clients.

"At Armstrong Builders the top priority is to be the best at what we do, whether that is building a one of a kind estate, or a multi-generational home that spans 5 generations. To us this means always looking for ways to build value into your home and to do it at the lowest possible cost. We are proud of our history and invite you to look at our work, and speak with our homeowners. When you are ready, our professional team will be there to show you how easy and fun building a home can be."

Robert H. Armstrong

Robert Armstrong, head of the Armstrong Companies, has been a builder and developer in Hawaii for 28 years. He comes from a family of builders who have constructed roads, bridges, and homes, and he began his career working for his father who developed homes in Virginia. He thereafter worked for a variety of builders primarily constructing single-family and multi-family subdivisions.

In addition to countless design-build single-family homes, he has built many of the elegant custom homes along Kahala Avenue and Diamond Head. He has developed and constructed a number of successful developments, the most recent of which was the award-winning Kai Lani at Ko Olina project, a joint venture resort residential development by Armstrong and A&B Properties. Mr. Armstrong is well known for the time and energy he has given to enhance the construction industry. During 1992, he held the position of President of the Building Industry Association (BIA) of Hawaii. In 1991, 1993, 1997 and 1998, Mr. Armstrong was named Builder of the Year by the BIA. Additional positions he is holding or has held in the BIA include: Vice President, Executive Board Member, Director, Secretary, and various committee chairs.

Additionally, Mr. Armstrong served as Chairman of the Iniki Rebuild Coalition which was an industry wide collection of construction groups active in the rebuilding of Kauai. He is a member of the Historic Hawaii Foundation and a life member of the Outdoor Circle. Mr. Armstrong has served as Vice-Chair for the construction industry of Aloha United Way.

To complement his construction experience, Mr. Armstrong received a Masters Degree in Urban Studies in 1975 from Old Dominion University, Virginia. He received his Bachelors of Art degree in 1973 from the University of Hawaii and attended Auburn University, Alabama, from 1968 to 1970.
